The French Section of Taipei European School is looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and committed person to join our Pastoral Team

Candidate profile

  • Promotes positive attitudes of children and families towards education.
  • Understands the importance of developing and maintaining links with our children and their families, offering advice and support to achieve positive attendance and student wellbeing.
  • Managing student behaviour around the school.
  • Excellent ability to listen to young adults and the ability to remain calm and reflective.
  • Experience of a range of approaches to managing and de-escalating challenging behaviours
  • Knows the relevant policies regarding safeguarding, health & safety, and awareness of confidentiality issues particularly relating to child protection.
  • Upholding policy and practice for equal opportunities and to promote non-discriminatory practices in all aspect of work undertaken.
  • High standards of working integrity and is able to carry out appropriate administrative duties.
  • To liaise with teachers and departments in relation to behaviour of individual and groups of students.
  • Ability to work in French and English as part of a multi-disciplinary team (teachers, and other school staff).
  • Work closely with the overall Pastoral Care leader, Head of School and other school sections.

Qualifications required

  • Fluent in French and English (essential).
  • Bachelor Degree in pastoral care and counseling degree from a recognized University or the relevant qualifications. 
  • A minimum of 2 years relevant experience in a school or similar setting.

Relevant experience:
Experience of working with teenagers, or supporting students in a pastoral, or wellbeing role (desirable)
Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and willingness to take additional certifications
Experience of working in a college/ lycéee environment (desirable)
Experience of working in international schools (integrated curriculum - French, British, German, American, Canadian) would be a significant advantage.
Familiarity with multicultural settings is a plus
